Vision is only restored once the cataract is surgically removed. Cataract surgery involves removing the natural clouded lens in the eye and inserting a synthetic Intraocular Lens (IOL) in its place. Patients can choose between a Standard or Premium Implant depending on their vision goals. Today, this surgery is done on a routine basis. It is considered outpatient surgery and minimally invasive which means patients are typically admitted and discharged within a few hours. The actual procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes to complete and complications, if any, are rare and treatable.

LASIK stands for Laser in-situ keratomileusis. LASIK is a noninvasive, refractive surgery that changes the shape of your cornea using a laser that admits an ultraviolet beam of light and this is what can correct your vision. The beam of light reshapes the top layer of the cornea and this can allow an image to focus directly on the retina, creating clearer, brighter sight. The laser sends calculated pulses of ultraviolet light to the cornea based on pre-operative measurements and these light pulses remove a microscopic layer of the cornea and this changes its shape.
