The TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) at UAB is a program committed to helping participants reach and exceed their educational goals. We can assist participants with the following: GED prep, gaining the skills necessary to enter or re-enter any college, university, or technical school of their choosing. We will discuss the different options available and help you make the best choice for you. We provide adults with help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), college admission applications, and much more. We believe in empowering individuals to build a bright future for themselves and their families through education. All Services Are FREE!!!
Eligibility
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• A resident of Jefferson County.
• Have a desire to enroll in college or a training program.
• Participant must be either a first-generation college student or have limited income.
• Veterans are eligible to participate
• Age 19 or older
• High school seniors

• College application assistance
• College transfer assistance
• Financial aid assistance (FAFSA)
• Financial decision making assistance
• GED referral assistance
• Homeless and foster youth educational assistance
• Scholarship Research
• Assistance with selecting a major
• Career work shops
• Individualized Education/ Career Pathway Plan
• Help with transitioning to college life
