In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve partnered with Institute of Women & Ethnic Studies (IWES) to create #GetYaMindRight – a virtual support group which will be led by psychiatrist and trauma expert, Dr. Denese Shervington, and IWES social workers. Participants can learn how to understand and manage thoughts, feelings and fears during this pandemic. You will have an opportunity to: share how you are experiencing fear; learn how to put your anxiety in perspective relative to the threat of the pandemic; learn tools to calm your mind and body; and, gain do-able tips for self-care and wellness.

These conversations are not intended for emergency situations or to diagnose or treat serious mental health crises. If at any point you feel as though you’re experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis, please contact MHSD’s 24-hour Crisis line at (504) 826-2675. If you have any questions about the support group, please email IWES at HealingIsTheRevolution@iwesnola.org.

All appointments are via Tele-health.
